Leopard 10.5.1 is here
Well that took about three weeks, and Apple have responded to user feedback quicker than I've even got my Leopard post out of the way.

The point I'm excited about (unless there is any Active Directory stuff further down) is this bit...
"Addresses an issue in which Microsoft Windows shared folders may be read-only when connected via SMB."
Makes it sound almost as if it was a problem from Apple's end, doesn't it oldman, which they have now dutifully fixed / broken as much as it was in Tiger... you know when it last worked. Well I was going to bed but guess I'll play with this!
