Network fun.

OK So we're running some electronic assessments today - until 1) at about 2300 last night something went bang in the server room and we lost the internet - I mean the plebs were beside themselves... and I couldn't even check facebook.

When we get into work this AM we order a service call and actually the first run of tests assessments go tickerty boo and then second round begin at 1100 until then 2) we find an entire room can't login. Now I know this was a bunch of new students but really not 96% of the room can forget the passwords. Our vallient hero dives into the secondary server room to find that several little lights on our cisco boxes are not doing that beautiful glowing thing they do. Turns out a piece of rather important fibre has been snapped, actually over in the main block, but crippling an entire room of terminals. After some emergency patch work and an improvised tutorial ice breaker (Well done tutors) the learners are able to login again... ta da.

Overall not a dull day.

Glad you appreciated our tutoring... we were really rather impressed with your jury rig skills too...
