Hawk Wings... speed up mail.app

Someone left this on my del.icio.us page tonight. Yes I use delicious and several other social networking sites. I'm very Web 2.0 (None of this complex semantic web stuff for me). I am debating outing myself on the blog, not in a gay way, merely allowing my identity to become known. Then I can link you all in to my various social networking profiles on, facebook, del.icio.us, digg etc.

Anyway back to hawk wings. I followed the fairly simple instructions to clean up or "Vacuum" (I've always liked that word, it's the only one know of with an actual double u) my Envelope file.

cd ~/Library/Mail
sqlite3 Envelope\ Index
sqlite> vacuum subjects;

I haven't seen the improvements others have, my envelope file dropped a couple of megs from 19Mb to 17Mb but I do use mainly pop3 mail services. Mail seemed to launch faster, but then it always does when you actually time the little blighter.
