Make your own birthday a public holiday in iCal

There are several calendars you can download for iCal to add alongside your personal calendar like Work and Home. Usually these calendars are not editable for obvious reasons.

I recently managed to edit a none writable calendar in iCal, I did it by accident when trying to add an event in Quicksilver.

Simply enter you text as plain text. Remember iCal / Quicksilver is clever enough to parse some natural language here like "on Saturday". Then press Tab type "iCal" tab again then pick the calendar of your choice, including protected downloaded calendars.

Ta Da... now you definitely don't have to go into work on your Birthday... it's a national holiday... like Washington's.
